The Bakersfield Californian's New Product efforts frequently get called out in the news media. Here are a few recent stories:
Press release about Bakomatic being chosen as a finalist for the 2006 Knight Batten Awards.
The Wall Street Journal
wrote about Bakotopia.com and The Bakersfield Californian in a March 22, 2006
story about newspapers' efforts to reach young people. Bakotopia was mentioned
in a headline on the front page:
"How to Make Your Web Site More Conversational" and "Home, Home on the Web" (archived) by Steve Outing from Editor and Publisher. Both articles mentioned Bakersfield.com's blogging and social networking initiatives, which are powered by Bakomatic.
Steve Outing also wrote about the launch of Bakotopia.com on a Poynter Institute weblog.
We also have received the following awards:
2006: Bakomatic is a finalist for the Knight-Batten Awards, which honors initiatives that "use basic technology to add value to the process of journalism" according to Jan Schaffer, executive director of J-Lab in College Park, Maryland. The top winner will be announced Sept. 18.
